Yes. All multifuel stoves need a method of removing the by-products of combustion i.e. smoke. The chimney also assists with combustion by drawing oxygen into the fire.

The Nestor Martin and Efel ranges of multifuel stoves are industry leaders in their levels of efficiency. Efficiency is very important as the higher the level the more heat is returned to you the user rather than passing up the chimney. For each 1lb of wood on average over 80% is returned to the room of installation. As an example for each 10lb of wood burned 8lb is returned to you in heat. Many stoves sold on the UK market have very low efficiency levels. If a stove has an efficiency of 45% only 4.5lb of heat is returned to the room for each 10lb of wood burnt. To achieve the same heat out put as a stove offered by Euroheat an extra 8lb of wood will need to be burnt.
